Anyone else going? Due to some sh*tty circumstances with my race tires I'll be unable to field my normally-uncompetitive () BStock entry. I'll be there in BS on Azenis.

...Cody Case...
...OK that'll be a DNS."
Where was Cody?
Where was Paul?
Where were the 3 missing cylinders on our M3?!
We've had a bad stumble that got REALLY bad 2 weeks ago. Codes showed Crank Pos. Sensor. Repaired that, it ran well enough last weekend, except for stumbling on Hanchey's last runs. Cleared codes, reset battery... ran well on Saturday at the SCCA Driving School. Sunday = no workie. Out of 6 runs the car made only 2 were semi-functional (these only had heavy misses on the straights) but the other 4 were with ZERO power. Now its throwing 4 different codes. Cam sensor is next, then wiring traces. 117K miles and this is the first time I can remember it letting us down this badly. Previous owner must have been rough on it!
Big thanks to McCall for letting me co-drive on my last run after the M3 went ka-put. The EVO = Fast! Jason put the hurt on the STU class and Mel punished STU-L (and most of the men, too!).

Meh, just didn't feel like going out and getting smoked on streets. Rs are the only thing that makes stock class fun! Unfortunately CCW tore the beads on my Hoosiers when they mounted them so discount refused to flip them for me. So now I'm left with no Rs until I get this sh*t worked out with CCW on Monday.Teucci has a good point about trannies - Tommy

Originally posted by C3CCW says they will want the tires back, so I either live with the ripped beads (one is a good 6" long, the other is only 1/2" or so) or get some reimbursement towards a new set. Personally I'd rather they have just done it right in the first place.

Re: TX Region SCCA Autox #1
Update: Full credit to John @ CCW. Just called him up and explained that they only had 12 runs to him, and he offered $400 towards replacing both tires without me even finishing my sentence. They certainly did the right thing and I wouldn't hesitate to be a return customer if (okay, when) I change cars.Teucci has a good point about trannies - Tommy

That's a bummer about Fair's car but I think it can easily be resolved. What really scared me was how fast MeL was in the car. She was beating me after the first run and I really had to put a good last run together to get the 1/2 second gap between me and her. If she had run open class I think she would have finished third right behind Fair! Needless to say she LOVES the car as well.
Now all we have to do is add POWER! muhahahahaha!!!McCall

Lightweight? Not so much...
John - we'll start with the coils since they were of recently during a cam cover gasket + spark plug change.
Simptums include: intermittent backfires under load but also soticable at other times from idle on up, loaded and not. its gotten progressively worse and last night wouldn't start after repeated tries.
Other issues of late: battery/charging issues. if it sits for 3+ days the small Oddessey batterygoes dead. its 3 years old, tho.
Some have suggested: charging system, bad engine ground, bad battery, bad MAF connection, bad coils, bad plugs, cam sensor.
I just spent $90 on a cam sensor and we'll start checking the rest tonight. thanks!

Re: TX Region SCCA Autox #1
Glad the Evo was working even with the adjustment challenges. It's too bad this weekend didn't have better data. Fair's car on 3 cylinders and Gabby don't put up much of a fight. On top of that, Pennington is never a good BMW lot, too slow. Can't wait to see Paul and McCall battle it out once both cars are prepped (and running). That should take STU to "the next level". I still say those Bridgestones are head and shoulders above the current tires out there. I talked to Andy Hollis at the BMW event. He knew of some top guys testing them that agreed with that. As Cody says, "you ST guys swap tires more than SP!" We have almost new tires on the silver car that are now "slow". Where was this "saving money" idea?Brian Hanchey

If the San Diego Tours results are indicative of the rest of the year, it should be another great battle between the M3s, STis, and now Evos.

As far as tire costs, the Bridgestones are only $160 a piece for my car.McCall
