It was great, for those of us who actually turned out. Weather was a bit cold but it stayed dry all day and the wind was not that bad at all.

As far as the Evo's debut, all I can say is....WOW....I'm in love

The camera man that came to the 1st Test-N-Tune last year was here again and took some great pics. The professional pics will be uploaded soon. Unfortunately, he left at about noon and we were driving so much by that point that I put away the camera and didn't take any pictures of Scooter's M3 or his sons' Z06.

We had 12 people (and only 10 drivers) show up for the event - I assume most of you were scared away by the "potential" for bad weather... again. Well, just like at last January's event, those early weather predictions proved to be completely off the mark (yet day before, the weatherman got it right) and we had a beautiful day of racing. It was 40°F when we got there and crept into the low 50s at mid day, with some sun for several hours (I got a bit burned, actually). The surprising part - zero wind. I had to shed layers and coats...

All in all another fine practice event with LOTS of seat time by all. Fitz saved the day with an impromptu timer set-up he built the night before, after his existing timer broke. Used some ActiveX component, MS Access and a video camera... it was a total MacGyver timer, but damned if it didn't work like a charm!

I made about 70 runs in 7 different cars, and was dead tired by day's end. We tore through a set of Falkens and into a set of Yokes on the M3, Hanchey borrowed some SSRs/Yokes from Paul and ran his '07 STi, McCall had brand new sticky ass Bridgestone ST tires on his "new" 5Ziegen wheels (which look great), and of course Paul had his fancy new tire trailer from John with wheels on-board. SeanT put in a bunch of runs, and Fitz drove damn near everything out there (and beat damn near everyone in their own cars). Punky put in some laps as well as some ZZZZ's. Pauls car with Fitz at the helm (who helped to tune that thing) was hard to beat!

Since the turnout was so low we had a small gathering of about 8 for a home cooked meal and watched some recorded shows an an HD movie at our place. Even Duck showed! Good thing we didn't cater this one (which has to be ordered well in advance), and until more people actually start showing up for these events in real numbers, we won't buy food until after the practice actually starts (like we did this time) to make sure we have an accurate head count. Oh well, no biggie, it was easy to set-up and tear down out there with the folks who did show and the party was a breeze to clean up after.

Questions: What's keeping attendance so low? Do I have B.O. or something?

Cost is only $20, and we aren't making money at that (we lose a little at each event). Was the weather such a bugaboo as to keep people from coming out to get virtually unlimited track time on 4 courses, with a timer on the main course?

Are we not inviting enough people? We've been purposely keeping attendee invites to a minimum (you guys here + a few experienced locals) to make sure there's no clowns or lines to wait in, but we'll open it up to more people at the next event just to help cover costs.

          Just curious...

It went well. I came up with another timing solution that was much easier to set up and worked well all day.

I probably made close to 100 laps on the practice course, mostly in Paul's car. By the end of the day, it was working very well. McCall's Evo was very impressive on the new Bridgestones and with only a rear bar.

Best part: I just sold the Falkens we raced on all morning.

Local guy wanted a set of the LTW5 wheels and some used Falkens, mounted. He got it! Saved me a trip to Discount to dismount those things...

                Well, yes... you do

It would have been an 18 hour drive each way for me... so that kept me out. Of course, if it had been this coming weekend, or the weekend after when I'm actually in Houston, i would have made it.

As it is, I'm picking up the M3 from Teucci next Monday and driving it back to Denver. Pray for good weather as the front Ass100s are shot

That's less important than having good rears on the M3. Feel free to ask me how I know.

OK, I feel a little better that Jason's car turned in so well vs. my car. The bar didn't hurt. I think those Bridgestones might be a hot tire too. Felt great. Paul's car was simply awesome to drive. I've taken out a home improvement loan to get my car there.

Agreed. Never thought a Subaru could be made to turn in that well. And the power... wowsers. Sure doesn't feel like 2.5 liters!

If it was for the _______ I'd also own a modified Subaru.

                        (guess what the ____ is?)

Sorry about the confusion B. I thought I told everyone that I put an adjustable rear bar on the car. Of course a few people told me that I was picking the rear inside tire up big time so I'm sure the swaybar was doing helping. Now if I can hopefully keep the same balance/turn-in but improve grip with coil-overs I will be one happy camper.

I had every intention of showing up, but I wound up wokring 28 hours of overtime this week (being on SWAT and a field training officer is really cutting into my off time). I decided that since my family literally hadn't seen me for longer than 5 minutes in 8 days, I needed to stay home.

This is why I never commit to anything until last minute.
