    Re: Goodbye PRO SOLO....??

Wow... read that thread on sccaforums. Some generally unhappy competitors. Not many like the way ProSolo is going nor the proposed "REHAB YEAR" changes.

"That would be the fat lady singing... "

I think the logistical problems with having a dual course + drag tree are what's killing the series. Not enough places to hold the event, and the timing equipment is so diff. than normal that only the SCCA can hold the events (and they pretty much stink at it anyway, with massive timing problems at almost every ProSolo event last year).

I like the suggestion of: turn the Nat'l Tour series into a annual points series and bring the "Pro" money to that series. A lot more people run Tours than Pros (typ. double the attendance) since they are less "odd" (drag start) and have a lower hardware reliability problem (drag starts + gumball tires = broken drivelines on a lot of auto-x cars).

It still boggles my mind that the SCCA can't get a jesus h. christo christmas tree to work with timing? I mean, redneck 1/8th mile tracks don't seem to have any problems... why does the SCCA?

The turd is circling the bowl.

If ProSolo dies then I would like to see this too. Heck, I would like to see this period.

          Re: Goodbye PRO SOLO....??

Take out the fact the timers were always broken and the format is still broken. Like Paul said, more go to Tours. I think the demographic changed and the SCCA didn't really see it.

          -Gas is expensive
-ST classes caught on (competitors are cost conscious here and won't travel)
-Sites are limited to do a Pro Solo correctly
-Sponsorship lacking and therefore payouts. How could Valvoline justify sponsoring ProSolo? I just don't see them getting payback targeting such a small group.

More regional style events are they way to go. That Subaru event had over 120 Subarus! ONE make. What's their formula?

All good points. However, Valvoline hasn't sponsored it in years and it has been operating in the red with membership money since.

As for why a Subie event can draw 120 competitors is simple. Nobody will make them think twice about buying a Subie and most of the good drivers don't drive Subies!?

FWIW, I have three div event commitments and some pretty cool gifts for a drawing amongst the competitors that compete in all of the div events. As well. I am still trying to get a div in LA, somewhere near the TX border.

Does No Problem have room for an event? Next up would be Shreveport or Lake Charles (convention center).

The problem is trying to get anyone of the regions energized to do it. I have received some support but all of the sites they use are too small for a 150 car event. Red River regions (Shreveport) is working on a new site. So, we shall see what happens.
