Actually, I meant that I know that you and Fair would be more than capable drivers bar none, the issue would be the mechanical car itself, where money buys speed - like an extreme Sias tuned M3 with 1000hp and all the same suspension goodies and more.

That car cracks me up. 1000hp with stock suspension. And a stock diff to boot.

No, I was serious tho. We'd have to have a cache driver, not "Brian and Terry" who the heck are they?!?! I want top 5 finish and magazine coverage. Imagine a professional driver quoting how great the LS-1 is matched to a BMW chassis in GRM or something.

I'll ask my buddy Ken about his two years of experience. I do know that he spent a total of $5000 total back in '98 and again in '99 and finished a best 13th overall in an under-prepped LT1 f-body.

Would it be nice to pre-run all the tracks? Yep, but what if you show up and it's raining? I know that happenend a few times and then your pre-run is pretty much worthless. Also, even though you might laugh, I bet running computer games sims would help almost as much and would be much cheaper.

I think the gist that Ken will say is that it's all about being fast but not too fast that you run off course and having a car that's powerful but no too modded that it breaks down. There's a lot of luck to with regards to weather. I say you build a car to the edge and then bring it back a bit for reliability. The less you have to work on your car during the event, the more rested you will be and the better you will drive.

Also, don't forget about sponsorships. I know that Ken got about $1000 from a company to run their sticker.

Or drive an AWD Turbo Evo with some 315's ! Weather wouldn't be as much of a concern as the predominantly RWD crowd... Most of them had some silly quarter mile times, only because it is hard to hook up 600rwhp on street tires...

Agreed. I doubt that the Vorshlag LS1 BMW could be driving, prepped and sorted by May `07. Not enough time or money or debugging.

My fears include: rushed prep, a less than competitive set-up (300 whp), reliability, and costs. Its a big event but doesn't get wide media coverage. Hiring pro drivers is both costly and ruins the fun. Lots of reasons NOT to run the '07 event...

You can always rent the Pikes Peak Toll road. Demonstrate reliability and speed on dirt, tarmac, at elevation and quite possibily poor weather.

Well, yes I did run cable and you have buggered it twice in that area or did you forget your drift w/training wheels (i.e. curb assisted)?
