It's easy if you know the secret. You gotz to put a little wrist action into it (very French-like) and of course all your friends make fun of you until they realize how well distributed the flakes are.

You can practice on clean dry pavement first, then sweep up the flakes and re-use them on your wet epoxy.

Yep, that's the stuff. Now on an older floor, prep is VITAL. Mines starting to come up in the areas where I use my floor jack. Fair, on the other hand, has had no such issues. Make sure to clean and etch.

              Jason,

Did you apply rubber stripping around the perimeter? I like it!

Yea, really trimmed it off nice. It didn't stick that well to the semi-gloss painted walls so I went back with contruction adhesive so that stuff is never coming off

The garage is about 98% done (still need to hang the tire rack and hook up the sink). After that I need to take some final finished pics of the project. I'm pretty happy at how it came out.

                  Re: GARAGE TECH: Epoxy Flooring

Okay, so here's a brief rundown of the process. Correct me where applicable:

                  1. Scrub and clean floor including removing as much of oil stains as possible. Use soap and water and whatever brushes you need. Squeegee all water out. I'm told to clean until water no longer beads. Sound good?

                  2. Apply muriatic acid to the floor (possibly diluted with water) and move it around on the floor with a brush until it stops bubbling. Rinse out with water and squeegee all liquid out of the garage.

                  3. Wait for the floor to be 100% dry. Might take one day, I suppose.

                  4. Verify the forecast will work well with the requirements for the epoxy before starting the next steps.

                  5. Mix and apply epoxy coating around edges first and start applying as mentioned above. Apply sprinkles as appropriate. Let dry for however long the box says.

                  6. Mix aggregate into clearcoat and apply in a similar fashion to the dried epoxy coating.

Did I miss anything or this is a pretty good synopsys?

Think Heavy Duty degreaser. You gotz to get all the old oil up the best you can.

You'll need a helper for doing the sprinkles. They have to be applied right behind you as you paint.

Paint in 4' x 4' squares keeping a wet edge in a pyramid formation starting in one corner and painting yourself out of the garage.

Yes, you buy the trim in a roll at HD/Lowes

Speaking of, I'll start up a "Tommy's House" thread tomorrow.

Dangit. Couldn't find it locally AT ALL so Fastenal is ordering it for me. Won't be here until middle to late next week. Oh well, at least this weekend I can clear out the garage and start cleaning and maybe etching.

Yea, I should have given you a heads up on that. Fair, Paul, and I all had to order ours. Make you sure you order enough and get the clear coat while you are at it.

Expect about 300-400 sqft worth of coverage for the paint and 500-600 sqft for the clear.

I had to order a "case" of each. That's two "Kits" of the epoxy coating and I think two gallons of the clear. She said it was plenty to do a 2 car garage. Sound about right?

Paint-wise, you will go about half way into the second kit. Think of something else you might want to expoy while you have the mixed pot sitting there.

As far as the clear, you won't even touch the second kit. Might look at selling it to another person doing a garage.
