    Ahh...
If you don't want to spend a furtune, and have a street legal car; Go into stock and just drive the d**n thing.
If you want to have a fun moster keep the Formula, run SM, take it to Topeka. You would probably get in the Trophies, if you want to win then you have to pick the right car and spend spend spend.
As far as being competitive, locally v Nationally are totally different. I got spanked in FS at Natl. I drove like a$$ this weekend in the Springs, in my FS car (running ESP) and took the class by 3.5 seconds

dang... the plethora of replies! the random tangents dean grasps at! First, I never expect to get the universal agreement of this crowd, not hardly! But I think some of you are ignoring some things that STU can fix on these porky, RWD beasts.

Me hating on F-bodies: it is well documented, but that was all when there was just FStock and ESP, and prior to SS/WS6 cars possibly being brought to FStock. I have stated on numerous boards that SS/WS6 addition to FStock could help revive the class and make these cars faster relative to other stock classes. Also, the rules differences of STU would allow 4th gen F-body drivers to FIX WHAT IS BROKEN ON THESE CARS - NAMELY, LACK OF CAMBER. Also, the relatively recent rulings on torque arms and "traction bars with respect to SP has provided more beneficial options for the F-body axle hop problem. As does the "open brakes" rule for STU...

Basically, most of the things I hate about the F-body can be fixed in STU (all except weight and girth). All of the things I love about the F-body (LS1 power, cost, durability, T56, stock tire clearance) are what would help these cars do "well" in STU. I never said it'd be an overdog, but I doubt it'd be the underdog John or Todd or others think.

Hanchey laid out a simple plan to help prove the F-body in STU hypothesis: have McCall run in events (gasp!) in his current "SMOD" prepped car, then again on Falkens, and compare them to a diverse, local "Nationally" competitive STU crowd, including 3 cars that trophied this last tear (Hanchey's, Paul's and Tim/Henry's). No one argues that STU had a deep or profound driving talent pool in 2005, but there were a few driver's that have consistent results running (such as, hanchey and i beating Andy's STS car at the Div by a wide margin; not saying we're super drivers at all! I know I was lucky to trophy). Yes, naitonal recognition will improve the class and "better" drivers will migrate.

FStock: Running in this class would require McCall to buy another car anyway... and NOBODY runs FStock locally. It's usually The Casey Weiss Show, running against himself. Sounds like Adam has the same situation in Colorado. STU is one of the biggest classes locally, and having good local competition is fun, esp. with the model diversity we see there (as well as a diverse set of winners). $900 sets of Kumhos that last 1/2 to 1/4 the runs that Falkens will (that cost less) also tips the favor away from Stock/SP/SM.

Keeping his current car and running SMOD is competitive suicide (but not locally - again, NOBODY runs SMOD around here). It is hopelessly overweight (to the order of 1000-1500 pounds compared to the top SMOD trophy cars!) but not so much when compared to STU's stable of STis (that weigh 3200+ stock) and EVO VIIIs.

"Run what cha brung" is fun for a while, at the right (weak) events, but eventually you will get a competitiveness bug (which I think bit McCall's butt this year!) and want to run in a dreaded "SCCA class" with those pesky competition "rules". Some people crave regular competition over showing up with a bisserko race car and setting TTOD at special olympics events.

I should just delete that post. Now you're acting like all the dorks on sccaforums.com changing the meaning of what he meant.

EDIT: Speaking of Jeremy's car. You putz's are PRIME candidates to start running STU. I really think Jeremy's car is a front runner. All you guys need are Falkens, come on Cletus!! The Evos at Nationals were an embarrassment to your tribe, Jeremy.

So, Jason, what it appears you need to do are buy an STi or Evo and mod it slightly and go race. THAT'S a reliable daily driver that is much more practical than an F-Body. It'll be one loan that'll be cheaper than your truck payment and you can sell the trailer. If you break it racing, it's under warranty!

Obfuscation usually requires a lot more words than if you simply focus on fundamental principles, so I’m not at all surprised by the loquaciousness of liberals.

I was thinking more along the lines of what he raced and did fairly well in at nationals especailly for not having a lot of seat time.

I never claim to race. But, thanks for playing.

Why not? You already have a LS1 ESP car plus 17x9 wheels so all you need is Falken 615's. You can set the mark and prove/disprove Hanchey's/Fair's theory.

If Hanchey and Fair are so adamant about this working, then they can do it themselves I'm keeping my 315's, thanx...
